Bushenyi High court has this afternoon halted the functions of the Bushenyi district executive committee until July 14th, following the miscellaneous application filed by five councilors of the district council, challenging the legality of controversially approved members of the District Service Commission.
The order of the temporary injection filled by the five councilors, including Douglas Mucunguzi representing PDWs, Denis Kanyankole from Ruhumuro sub county, David Kakama of Bumbaire, Arinda Allan of Nyakabirizi and Anthony Katwara, representative of workers through their lawyers M/S Oine and Nuwagaba advocates.
The councilors petitioned the district chairman, Prosper Twebaze, his speaker, Banyanga Silag and the entire District Local Government that they faulted the selection procedures for the nomination of the District Service Commission in May 2026.
Counsel to the accused, Isaac Walukaga, said the temporary injunction will put to hold all the activities of the district executive leadership, however, it won't detriment the earlier resolutions made by the district council, which included the two nominated names to the district service commission.
Speaking to the press, the district chairman, Prosper Twebaze said the interim injunction halting the activities of the district leadership is a dis- service to the people of Bushenyi saying that until July 14, unless otherwise stated, the district won't be carrying out any service to the people of Bushenyi.
