Gen. Muhoozi Appoints Acting SFC Commander as Brig. Gen. Nyakikuru Elevated

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed Brig. Gen. Asaph Mweteise Nyakikuru as the Acting Commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC).

As part of the appointment, Brig. Gen. Nyakikuru has also been elevated to the acting rank of Major General, with the changes taking immediate effect.
According to a statement issued by the UPDF, Acting Maj. Gen. Nyakikuru succeeds Maj. Gen. David Mugisha, who is expected to leave in the coming months to pursue strategic security studies at the National Defence College (NDC) abroad.

The military commended Maj. Gen. Mugisha for his leadership and dedicated service during his tenure at the helm of the Special Forces Command, describing his tour of duty as commendable. The UPDF also wished him success in his upcoming studies.

The defence force further congratulated Acting Maj. Gen. Nyakikuru on his appointment and acting promotion, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the elite unit in his new role.
The announcement was made by Col. Chris Magezi, Acting Director of Defence Public Information at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA)/UPDF.
