The Bushenyi High Court has lifted an interim injunction that had suspended the operations of the Bushenyi District Executive Committee (DEC) and the District Service Commission (DSC), allowing the two bodies to immediately resume their official duties.
The ruling was delivered on Wednesday by Deputy Registrar His Worship Andrew Kabombo, who found that the applicants had not presented sufficient evidence to justify extending the temporary orders. He noted that the injunction was affecting the district's ability to deliver essential public services.
The application for judicial review had been filed by district councillors Douglas Mucunguzi, David Kakama, Anthony Asingwiire Katwarana, Denis Nayebare and Allan Arinda, challenging the conduct of the Bushenyi District Council.
Although the interim injunction has been lifted, the main judicial review case remains before the court and will be heard at a later date.
